Whew! What. A. Weekend. It was fun-filled, jam-packed, and was the reason I totally slept through my alarm yesterday morning and you're getting the weekend wrap-up on a Tuesday.
This is real life. It happens.
This is real life. It happens.
Friday after work, I hopped in the car and headed down to good ole Houston, TX.
It was time to celebrate this blonde bombshell in the middle!
Plate of pasta and side of girl talk at North Italia |
Saturday morning I woke up early and went to Annie's place (my high school bestie) to see her, Ashley (my other high school bestie) and Ashley's three kiddos!
This was an adventure - and I'm still laughing about it. There's just something about watching your good friends parent that is just entertaining. I was impressed with Ashley and Jeremy's parenting skills. Oh, because did I mention they're all girls? Mhmm. Glitter things and giggles were the name of the game.
After lunch I headed to the Galleria to meet back up with Missy and Kelsey to do a little of this.....

We were inseparable senior year...SO good to catch up |
Duh duh duh DUH. Yeah...I did some damage. But good damage. Like it was all on sale damage. And the stuff is super cute! I've actually never participated in the anniversary sale before so this was a pretty big deal. If you haven't gone yet - get to a Nordstrom! OR stay in your jammies and play online. Both equally acceptable :) I'm posting all my fun purchases on Thursday....stay tuned!
Shopping with this one is both a blessing and a curse. A blessing to my wardrobe and a curse to my poor bank account :)
After we shopped til I literally wanted to drop (no really...my toes were cramping), we came home, got ready, and headed to La Grange for Missy's birthday dinner!
Then we sang happy birthday.....twice (when the pictures don't work the first time you try try again), and headed to do a little karaoke action. Because whenever you celebrate Melissa...you karaoke. You can't have one without the other. No really, you can't.
I hate karaoke-ing (it makes me nervous), but as it was a requirement on Melissa's birthday, we busted out some Shania Twain. A clip for your viewing pleasure :)
Sunday morning I woke up early and headed down to Beaumont to pick up Charlie. (He was hanging out with grandma and grandpaw when I was in the Dominican). So my mom said we could eat brunch before I headed back to Dallas. So I thought cool, coffee and a casserole, I'm down.
Ummmm....No.
I walked into the house to this...

And was handed one of these...
I mean, y'all. My mama went ALL out for this Sunday brunch. We had yogurt parfaits, quiche, fresh pineapple, hashbrown casserole, lemon tarts, spinach artichoke dip, broccoli/ham roll ups, apple cinnamon streusel muffins, and chocolate covered strawberries.
I think it's safe to say I get it honestly. :) All my friends are probably nodding their heads and saying "oooohhhh." I mean the proof is in the picture. I get it from my mama :)
And I may or may not be a bit spoiled :)
I mean, this is better than any ole restaurant. Brunching and chatting with my parents just made for the perfect Sunday morning. I am so lucky to call them mine. They're just the greatest.
After a long 5 hour drive, unpacking, and a little work, I had a package waiting for me. So [backstory], my friend Kristie and I have tried to be budgeting partners for a couple of years now. And we are AWFUL at it. We planned to have monthly budget meetings together and I think we had two. And I don't even think we really followed them.
Well recently, her dad gave her a book of Dave Ramsey's and she has been providing me with little tips she reads. And then it turned into me asking for daily tips/guidance and so since she's just the sweetest thing ever...THIS was on my doorstep Sunday night :)
Isn't she the greatest? Financial fitness. Gimme some of that. I'm so excited to read this!
And THEN, before my sleepy little head hit the pillow, I decided to have a little dinner. And because it was National Ice Cream Day, I did what was good and right and noble.
I ate ice cream for dinner.
This is the first bowl. Because yes, there was more than one.Y'all I had no choice. I mean ME of all people. It was a requirement. And yes, that is vanilla with Hershey's chocolate syrup. I've been eating it that way ever since I can remember. Can't change won't change. That right there is a Katy bowl.
And that was my weekend!! Hope everyone had a great Monday (as great as those can be), and has an even better Tuesday!
Until next time,
Katy

I have all the things to say:
ReplyDeleteA. I sorta panicked yesterday when there was no Monday post from you in my blog lovin email.
B. your shopping makes me think of Rachel "these are my I don't need a job, I don't need my dad, I've got great boots-boot!"
C. Half expected the karaoke clip to be Missy singin "She leads a lonely life" - a la Scruffs.
4. Davey is the best.
I just died laughing. Love all of this. But B is my favorite (but you knew that) :)
